CHOOSING A NOTARY
There are many notaries throughout England and Wales. The majority work also as solicitors. The scrivener notaries work mainly in the city of London. There are many factors to consider in choosing a notary, which include the following:
Experience
I have over 30 years experience as a solicitor and notary. I am well aware of the pressures on the solicitor as I was a partner in a firm for this time.
Meeting the notary
Although some tasks for the notary do not require a meeting with anyone on behalf of the client, the majority do. If you need a notarised certificate of good standing for your company, I may not need to see you. But generally a face to face meeting is essential.
How convenient will it be for you and the notary to meet?
Availability
I am well aware of the pressures upon the solicitor who is also a notary, and the difficulty of fitting notarial work around a full solicitor workload. This is one of the reasons why I specialise in notarial work, so that I can give this important work my full priority. I can generally arrange meetings at short notice and at a venue to suit your convenience.
Out of office hours appointments
As my main office is within my home where I have all the necessary equipment, I can arrange to see you at times to suit you even if not within normal working hours. So if you are busy working a full week in central London, I can be available for evenings and weekends for your private documents. And if you are a managing director of a company, I can arrange an early morning start, or a late appointment.
Visits
If you are engaged running your company, you probably do not want to take time away from your office visiting the notary. So I can make life easy by arriving at your office. I am fully mobile and carry out the majority of my work in that way.
These are some of the matters you need to think about when you select your notary.
