Leslie Seldon, Notary Public
07/05/2010
Although for the majority of my career I was a solicitor/notary and partner in a law firm, I have been focusing exclusively on notarial work in the recent period. I am particularly interested in the application of technology and especially the concept of Electronic Notarisation. I am set up to offer electronic notarisation, which will be effective as soon as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office complete their current review of the concept.
Security is a growing problem to counteract which Project Tone has been developed. This is a system where the notary creates his document on specially manufactured paper, using secret identification marks, which are invisible under normal light, making it virtually impossible to forge. I adopt Project Tone as my routine practice as a notary.
Previously for 30 years I was a solicitor/notary and partner in a law firm, when I handled many substantial matters; for example a successful three week libel trial of national importance; and a widow's claim in which she recovered £9m from an estate.
During my time as a solicitor, I was interested in contentious probate matters and I remain a member of the Association of Contentious Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). This is helpful in my notarial practice, particularly where issues of mental capacity arise.
I am a keen sportsman, former captain of Bromley Cricket Club, regular gym attendee and enthusiastic golfer.
