About Leslie Seldon
I practised for many years as a notary/partner in a solicitor’s firm. Since 2007 I have run my own practice, mainly as a notary and now I specialise exclusively in notary work.
I am particularly interested in the application of technology to notarial work and have written on electronic notarisation for the Trade Mark Attorneys magazine.
Further security of documents is a matter of great importance for the notary ad I have adopted Project Tone, a measure to make the forgery of notarial documents as near impossible as may be.
As a notary I have an interest in work for patent and trade mark attorneys. I am a member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA); I also have membership of the Notary Society and ACTAPS (see below).
My sphere of operations as a solicitor was mainly in contentious work, for example one libel action for a surgeon resulting in a High Court award of £625k. I still do a lot of work for doctors, but now in authenticating their qualifications.
In another claim, a widow recovered £9m from an estate.
Indeed, latterly as a solicitor I focussed on the contentious aspects of wills probate and trusts. I remain a member of ACTAPS (the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists). This experience is useful in dealing now with estates especially those abroad; and in the assessment of capacity, something a notary has always to consider.
I am a keen sportsman, former captain of Bromley Cricket Club, a regular gym attender and enthusiastic golfer.
